Course information

Who is this course for

Candidates for this electrical training should arrive with a good understanding of the previous edition of the wiring regulations, and a strong sense of electrical principles. Due to the limited nature of the content covered by this course, entry is only available to those who have successfully completed a qualification relating to BS 7671:2008 (17th Edition) or a later version.

What are the entry requirements?

Over 16 years old and able to supply evidence of a previous BS7671 qualification.

What will you learn?

This course will provide an overview of the main changes introduced since BS 7671:2008 Amendment 3:2015 and includes guidance on the latest requirements up to and including, Amendment 3:2024.

The course is designed to assist in better navigation of BS 7671 and to help prepare delegates for success with the City & Guilds 2382 examination. This examination is the same as for those attending a three-day course, therefore a thorough existing understanding of BS 7671 is required.

How is this course assessed?

This City & Guilds qualification assessment includes an online multiple-choice test.

What do you need to have with you?

To get the best out of this training you should have access to each of the following for the duration of the course.

  • A copy of BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 - Requirements for Electrical Installations.
  • A copy of Amendment 3:2024 (download for free from the NICEIC website).
  • A copy of the Corrigendum (May 2023) to BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 (download for free from the IET website).
  • A scientific calculator with square root function.

Not having the above items for the duration of the training will compromise the quality of the learning and significantly reduce the chance of success in the open book assessment.

You'll need photo ID on the day of the examination; please note failure to provide this will result in you not being able to sit the exam.
