About this course

Who is this course for

This qualification is intended for suitably qualified electricians that hold relevant Level 3 Electrotechnical qualifications, who want to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD), learn new skills, and enhance their understanding of periodic inspection and testing.

How is this course assessed?

This City & Guilds qualification assessment includes the following.

1. A practical assignment including the following elements.
Task A: visual inspection.
Task B: periodic inspection and test.
Task C: short-answer questions.

2. An online multiple-choice test.

What do you need to have with you?

To get the best out of this training you should have access to each of the following for the duration of the course. 

  • BS 7671 IET Requirements for Electrical Installations 18th Edition Regulations (latest revision).
  • IET Guidance Note 3 Inspection & Testing (latest revision).
  • Calculator (to satisfy exam conditions, this cannot be part of a smartphone application, Google watch, or any device that can access the internet).
  • Calibrated test instruments.
  • Safe Isolation kit (including a voltage indicator, proving unit, lock-off device, and warning labels).

Not having the above items for the duration of the training will compromise the quality of the learning and significantly reduce the chance of success in the open book assessment. 

You'll need photo ID on the day of the examination; please note failure to provide this will result in you not being able to sit the exam.
