This should be considered a plumbing and heating course and is not intended to train gas installers to become electricians.

Course information

Who is this course for

This plumbing and gas training course is ideal for engineers who maintain gas appliances and central heating control systems. It will help further your knowledge, understanding and application, in particular related to safely testing, diagnosing faults, and exchanging controls and components.

What are the entry requirements?

All applicants must hold the appropriate ACS gas certificates.

As a minimum, learners must hold CCN1 and the appropriate appliance category certificates such as:

  • CENWAT for wet central heating electrical control systems.
  • CKR1 for gas cooking appliance electrical control systems.
  • DAH1 for ducted air heater electrical control systems.

Proof of qualifications will need to be emailed to traininginfo@niceic.com after submitting your order.

What will you learn?

The package consists of four modules:

  • Module one: Basic electrical knowledge and understanding (compulsory).
  • Module two: How systems work.
  • Module three: Health, safety and safe isolation (compulsory).
  • Module four: Fault finding, control and component exchange.

Modules one and three are the core modules for engineers wishing to gain the basic knowledge and understanding of electrical circuits and systems. This includes safely isolating equipment prior to carrying out any work.

Modules two and four are optional modules that concentrate on understanding appliances, their systems, controls and components, to include fault diagnostics, repair and replacement.

* Completing all four modules is a three-day course.

Learners not wishing to complete some of the optional modules may be able to complete the course in two days.
