About this course

This fire alarm course equips you with the knowledge and understanding needed to work with fire alarm systems in a wide range of non-domestic settings, while teaching you the relevant regulatory and technical requirements.

By completing the course you'll have prepared yourself to carry out the highest standards of planning, design, installation, commissioning and maintenance for fire alarm systems.

This qualification meets the BAFE SP203-1 requirement for individuals nominated into a lead role to hold a BS 5839-1 Level 3 qualification or higher.

Who is this course for

If you want to take a serious step up in your fire alarm training and get a recognised qualification for their management in non-domestic settings, then this course is likely to be a good fit for you. 

The course also works as a refresher on the requirements of BS 5839-1 for engineers working in the fire-sector. 

What are the entry requirements?

There aren't formal entry requirements for this fire alarm training, but being a Level 3 qualification, it is aimed at electricians and other building services engineering professionals.

  • Design, installation, commissioning and handover of fire detection and fire alarm systems. 
  • Limitation of false alarms and unwanted fire alarm signals. 
  • User responsibilities. 
  • Maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems.
  • Information contained within the annexes. 

How is this course assessed?

This EAL qualification assessment includes an online multiple-choice test.

What do you need to have with you?

  • A device (such as phone or tablet) designed to run mobile applications. 
  • A copy of BS 5839-6:2019+A1:2020, a scale rule and highlighters would also be useful.
