About this course

This fire alarm course can equip you with the theory and practical skills needed to work with fire detection and alarm systems in dwellings. You'll cover systems within grades A to F from both a regulatory and technical perspective.

If you want to take a serious step up in your fire alarm training and get a recognised qualification for their handling in domestic settings, then this course is for you.

What are the entry requirements?

There aren't any formal entry requirements for this fire alarm training, but being a Level 3 qualification, it is aimed at electricians and other building services engineering professionals with an existing understanding of electrical systems.

What will you learn?

  • The key legislation and regulations applicable to fire detection and alarm systems in dwellings, including BS 5839-6. 
  • Differing regulations and standards across the UK nations. 
  • Fire risk assessments. 
  • The requirements for the design, installation and commissioning, certification and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems in dwellings. 

How is this course assessed?

This EAL qualification assessment includes an online multiple-choice test.

What do you need to have with you?

  • A device (such as phone or tablet) designed to run mobile applications. 
  • A copy of BS 5839-6:2019+A1:2020, a scale rule and highlighters would also be useful.
